Mo Brings Plenty chosen to play Charlie Soap

in THE CHEROKEE WORD FOR WATER

It was an arduous process and one not taken lightly, but after careful consideration and review of several dozen auditions from American Indian men in the US and Canada...actor, musician and motivational speaker Moses J. Brings Plenty (Oglala Lakota) has been selected by the director, producers and Charlie Soap to play the role of Wilma Mankiller's husband, Charlie Soap. Although, the search began in May, the decision only came recently and Mo Brings Plenty was the first to be attached to this project.

Reviewing all those auditions for a person to play me in this movie was overwhelming and not something that was all a natural process to me. I had seen Moses' taped audition and really like what I saw, but then that day, he walked through the door of our offices in Tahlequah, I was in complete shock and almost disbelief because I felt like a younger version of me had just walked through that door. I couldn’t get over it...our physical similarities; then, I got to talking to him and I realized we are of same mind and I was sold and team agreed, he was the best candidate. - Charlie Soap
